Second year Day 30 - Saturday January 12, 2013
Mark dropped me at the hospital about 7:10, and then returned to the hotel to be with the girls. As I walked through the lobby and to the elevators, it was reminiscent of last year when I walked this same walk every morning after catching a few quick hours of sleep. The only thing different...for some reason there wasn't a guard at the entrance like last year. I wonder why? I had my mind racing back and forth from last years accident to this years birth of the twins. I tried to keep focused on the twins, but it was hard. When I walked into Jenn's room, it was two floors above Bridgett's room in the ICU, I think exactly. I had the same view out the window and everything. I gave Jenn and kiss and then my eyes teared up. She understood; when she started coming for the stress tests for the babies she had the same reaction and also cried. I was able to hold Jenn's hand while they waited for the numbing process to finish. She was shaking so hard..they said the drugs do this. This is the first time I have been here for the birth; I usually come after the baby is born. It was great to be with Jenn! They took her down about 10 minutes later than they were supposed to, and she was still feeling some pain and not yet numb. I was left in the room to pace while I waited, although I did have a book with me. Jenn and Tyler were busy worrying about their little twins, and I was worrying about my baby...Jenn. It is a common surgery, but after months of worrying it was another thing to worry about. Just about this time last year one of the faculty at UVU, where Arri goes to college, died in childbirth. It doesn't happen often, but it is a worry still, especially with the C-section. Finally, after about 45 minutes, Tyler and the nurse stopped at the room for me to see the babies and I found out that everything was great and everyone was doing just fine, including Jenn. The babies are just spectacular! Lincoln weighed 5 lbs. 2 oz and was 17". Logan weighed 5 lbs 14 oz and was 17-1/2". By the time they got Jenn stitched up and back in the room, the twins were rooting and both nursed right away. It was a busy day, but so fun! Bridgett, Arrianne and Stephany were so excited to see the babies, and in the afternoon Mark brought them all up to hold the babies. I took the girls back to the hotel and Mark helped Jenn while I got a nap. Later on Tyler Fenn brought the boys up to the hospital and Mark headed back here. We took turns between the hotel and the hospital, which are luckily only about three blocks apart. We ended the night with Arri staying with Jenn, while Tyler Fenn stayed home with the boys. I'm not too sure that either Jenn or Arri will get any sleep, but I will be there in the morning at 5:00 and find out how the night went. Before bed, Bridgett talked to Tyler (brother) on the phone and just raved about how beautiful the babies were and how fun it was to hold them! We all had such a good day and we are all so glad that the twins stayed inside for long enough to do so well on their own! Jenn should be able to bring them home with her in three days.
