Second year Day 58 - Saturday February 9, 2013
Bridgett woke up with a sore neck and shoulder today, I guess from the bowling. We only bowled one lane on the Kinect, but we will have to take it slower than that I guess. We will try some other games that might be less stressing for the neck. Of course, the game where she kicks the ball is good and I'm sure there are others. For today, we will skip it! So, I don't think I blogged about this yet, but if I did, my apologies! Just after Christmas Bridgett suddenly asked me out of the blue, did they cut off my clothes when I was in the wreck? (She knows that when the ambulance came when she had her other wreck they did this--in fact, they cut off her Victoria's Secret bra and she was not happy at all about that!) Anyway, I said yes they did. What happened to my clothes she then asked me. I said that we had them. I did not tell her this part........After the wreck, the hospital gave them to us. Mark asked Arrianne to take them to the apartment and put them in Bridgett's room. After she got them there, she realized that they were stinking--they were covered with blood. She washed them, which was very traumatic for her actually. It took several washed to get out the terrible smell. Then she put them in Bridgett's room. We kept the clothes in case they were needed by the police or the court. Actually, the police did call later and want to see them. Anyway, back to Bridgett's question.......I was caught off guard when Bridgett asked me about her clothes. She also asked me if she could look at them. I said that I would have dad look find them for her although actually I knew right where they were, in Bridgett's room. The second time she asked me we were upstairs and the clothes were downstairs in the bedroom. I said that we could go downstairs and see them but she said no, she'd look at them later on. She asked me about them I think twice more but each time we were someplace other than downstairs and she declined actually seeing them. I haven't brought up the subject again. Of course, we have been gone and very busy. Perhaps I should bring it up sometime when we are downstairs and see if she still wants to see them. During the summer I did show her the bike finally--I did blog about that. Bridgett had named her bike Yakov. Dave's son Justus told Bridgett that Yakov is dead--and indeed her bike is dead; the frame is snapped in half, the wheels bent. When we looked at the bike Bridgett was sad. Then she said, it really was a bad wreck! When I took Bridgett to see Jennie Murdock, the counselor, she asked Bridgett if she had been back to the site of the wreck and Bridgett said no. Later that week we were driving on 800 South and I said to Bridgett, your wreck happened about half a mile from here....do you want to go see where? Bridgett said no very definitely, so we did not finish down the road. The wreck is past the point where we usually turn and so we don't go past there normally. I don't actually have any desire to see the place where it happened at this point either. I have thought about it in the past, but have not driven down there myself. Of course, Mark, Tyler, and Arrianne all went there shortly after the wreck to get pictures of the site and to check how light it was at the time of the accident. I guess at some point Bridgett (and I) will have to deal with some of these things.....maybe!
