- Vision: originally 20/60 in the right eye and 20/200 in the left eye...now vision is 20/40 in the right eye and 20/60 in the left eye.
- Color vision: originally none in the left eye and limited color differentiation in the right eye...now normal in both eyes.
- Field of vision: that was originally very limited and almost no peripheral vision....now is normal for both eyes.
- Double vision: still almost the same and still the brain is usually ignoring the left eye, although she does have vision in that eye. She tracks well with both eyes.
Based on the above results they are no longer recommending that she have surgery on the left optic nerve. Although the optic nerve is still pale her vision is in the normal range now and so they believe that the optic nerve will just continue to heal. Instead they recommend surgery to fix the "crossed eyes". They said that this surgery is a very delicate and precise surgery for adults and that they would give us the names of doctors that we should consult. This would mostly be a cosmetic surgery so that the eyes look more normal.
I was so happy about the results of this appointment! I do believe that the eye exercises that we do daily have made a great difference in her vision. We will continue our protocol for the eyes.
