Second year Day 312 - Monday October 21, 2013

Bridgett and I seem to have endless discussions about scientific kinds of things.  Some things I can answer, some things we look up, some things I just finally tell her I don't know.  It's hard to be expected to know everything!! Anyway, Bridgett's latest barrage of questions concern the planets and the solar system.  She couldn't remember about the rotations of the planets and what they rotate around.  First she wondered if they all rotate around the earth.  After discussing it she was able to reason (or guess!) that they all rotate around the sun.  Now, since we have discussed it several times, she remembers that fact and we discuss other things, like the temperatures on these planets, their relative sizes etc.  We have been having these planet discussions for about two months, off and on.  I did get out our placemats that we used when the kids were young, that show different educational subjects.  One of them has our solar system and shows the planets with individual information about each one.
