Second year Day 313 - Tuesday October 22, 2013
Bridgett has been able to utilize a skill that I was inspired to show her for remembering things. Initially after the wreck, for quite a while she had trouble with FBI; she would repeatedly ask what FBI stood for. She could remember almost any other acronym but that one she always messed up. She always remembered it as the Federal Brew-uh of Investigation. I don't know that I spelled that right, but she always pronounced Bureau incorrectly. Weird, right! Finally I said bureau--it rhymes with churro. From that time on she remembered the pronunciation, often reminding us what bureau rhymed with. Even now, probably a year and a half later, when she says the name she often reminds me that it rhymes with churro. So, anyway, we have been relearning the bones in the body. Bridgett often can not remember that the tibia and fibula are in the lower leg and confuses those bones with the radius and ulna (in the lower arm). So, she figured out herself that she would remember the leg bones because fibula and foot both start with "f". So, now she always gets it right! Memory triggers!
