Third year Day 3 - Monday December 16, 2013
Sometimes Bridgett remembers stuff that kind of blows me away. Like today, she said to me, holding up her thumbs.....how come they call them opposable thumbs! Opposable! Love it!! This also opened up a whole discussion about opposable thumbs and what they are good for, etc. I always say to Mark....bits and pieces of her memory, coming back at random times! It's cool! I was on the phone a lot today with business issues (mostly) and some stuff for Arrianne as well. Bridgett was very patient with it all for most of the time, but started to get kind of frustrated later on in the day. Finally she told Mark when he got home that I'd been on the phone all day long! Mostly true, ha ha! But, you know how it is....on hold and doing things part of the time, etc. Anyway, she did lots of reading, playing Nintendo, and ipad, etc. She helped carry stuff down to Stephany in the basement like water bottles for her to drink etc. She can't really carry a cup of water down without spilling because her balance is not wonderful, but it is pretty good! She's been demonstrating balance for me lately, out of the blue! For example, she will suddenly say, look at my balance mom! Then she will balance on one foot while she counts to ten (and usually makes it!). Next she will try to do the same on the other foot, but will have to count really fast and won't make it to ten. But, it's getting better! Today she suddenly said she wanted me to watch her put on her socks standing up with out any support. Hmmmm......I said okay if I stand next to you and you have a wall or something else on the other side of you just in case. So, she stood up next to the fridge and I was on the other side. She lifted her foot and started to put her foot in the sock, and leaned over into the fridge. At this point, she abandoned the effort and said Oh I guess I can't really do that. She said other people do it and I said at some point you will be able to do it too, but for now, let's just sit down to put on socks! BTW, a few days later she saw Tyler putting on his socks while standing and said see! Tyler can do it! I want to be able to do that too! Good remembering, I say!
