Third year Day 65 - Sunday February 16, 2014

One of the things that Bridgett talked about on the trip was her desire to get a job at Sea World and work and swim with dolphins.  It was great for me to hear her talk about this, as this was one of the things that she wanted to do when she was in high school.  Some times I see a pattern of her living back through experiences and feelings as she is almost growing up again.  Remember that when she woke up from her coma, she thought that she was 14 years old.  That concerned me greatly at the time.  However, she has slowly been moving through her life and becoming herself again.  I can't really explain it.  One of the therapists that we saw several months ago talked to me about this phenomena.  She said that she felt that this was really such a good thing for Bridgett. If she has realized right after her accident exactly where she was and her limitations, she probably would have been really depressed and had such a hard time.  However, the way that she is healing seems to be a protection to her and has allowed her to heal slowly without feeling that great depression of having lost her life.  It's so interesting; the brain is just such an interesting and amazing thing!!
