Day 154 - Wednesday May 16, 2012

Today we started taking down our Christmas decorations!  Yes, really, in May!  That's because we had the house all decorated for Christmas when we got the call about Bridgett's accident. Arrianne was supposed to be coming home the next day from college for Christmas and Bridgett several days after that.  We had everything up but the tree, which we had purchased that day and put in the garage to thaw and put up the next day with Arrianne.  So, luckily it was in the garage, which got covered with pine needles instead of the living room.  But, we had stockings up and nativities and other decorations. So, when we came home we could almost picture it was the holidays again!  I looked around and asked Bridgett what holiday it looked like and she said Christmas.  When is Christmas I asked and she said December.  What day I asked (she hasn't been able to answer that before) and she said the 25th?  Right!  So, anyway, on to taking down the decorations.  Also this afternoon Arrianne and I took Bridgett to Kalispell to see Ginny Wood.  That was a fun appointment!  When I asked Bridgett if she remembered who Ginny is she said isn't she that massage lady?  That's right I said.  Anyway, Bridgett responded so well to Ginny.  We have know Ginny over 22 years, so all of Bridgett's life; that's a good long term memory right there!  Ginny was able to open up many blocked channels and I thought it was a great hour spent.  Afterwards we headed to Rosauers to pick up groceries and Bridgett helped us shop.  Boy did we shop--but when you haven't been home you need everything it seems!  Bridgett has been eating well lately and I am glad of that.  She is back to eating a more normal diet, not just french toast and mac-n-cheese! We had corn on the cob tonight and I was worried about her eating that with crowns in front but she did just great.  We are trying to increase protein in Bridgett's diet and she's done great with that.  She even drinks the smoothies in the morning although she usually tells me that they don't taste very good:)
